Platforms, alternative influence, and networked political brokerage on YouTube

This article interrogates political brokerage on YouTube by examining the platform’s role in construction of discourses and configuring action a new genre actors advancing agenda through historical revisionism. Using assemblage theory drawing from technography, we propose concept “networked brokerage” to characterize mutually affirming relationship YouTube’s governance mechanisms alternative influencers’ microcelebrity practices building, complementing, magnifying revisionist narratives within network algorithmically sanctioned videos. We illustrate how this interplay platform logics ‘cultures use' privileges legitimizes content into knowledge without accountability. argue for importance as socio-technical driver process curating information contemporary scene.
